Stonewall

The gays have been through a lot and have suffered to have the rights that they have today. Back then it was really hard for them to come "out of the closet" and same with pride that they were gay. They didn't have it easy especially since back then people thought that it was a disease. Like there was something wrong in your body or brain and that it could be shut off like turning the television off. They would study them and try to find a "cure" for them. The "cure" was electrifying them and showing them pictures of men and women. 

If men would react to men pictures in any "wrong" way they would get electrified. They would do it for so many times that as some point men would just stop being attached to men. Or they would be terrified and wouldn't even look at the picture any more. I believe that it was the same way with women. But back then was not easy at all. If men found out that they liked men (gay) they would get beaten up merciless. I feel that, thats pretty messed up since they didn't really do anything wrong. And if officials (cops) found out you were gay they would arrest you. And I think that would be even more messed up because they weren't getting arrested for committing a crime like killing someone, or stealing or anything like that. They were just getting arrested for liking men. 

Gay men started to become more desperate to be able to show that they like men and not women that they started to dress as women and go out in public and acted and pretended to be women. Which I think is wrong again because men shouldn't have to hide the way they are. And I didn't mention how female police officers would go to the bathroom with "women" to check them out and make sure that they were women and not men dressed as women. And if they were men dressed as women they would go to jail. Gay people now and back then are so different. They are free now in 2023 nobody cares if you're gay or lesbian. They can say it loud and proud and they aren't going to be judged as bad as how they were back then. They don't have to hid it or dress as women to say or be worried that they were going to get judged or beaten up. They were treated like animals in a zoo. 

Had no rights and had to try their best to not get caught. The Stonewall Inn Bar was the only place where the gay people felt safe because they didn't judge at all and they just served to anyone which is where the gay people would go. If gay people were to see that everything that they went through was worth it they would be proud of themselves.
